Thankfully, with God at our sides, when one of us loses strength and feels the pull of the reveler’s call, the other is there encouraging in the Word, in prayer, and with a helping hand.
And what if both lose strength and the will at the same time? God hears our cry and miraculously sends a surge of fresh water teaming with fellow believers, all encouraging and helping the two of us.
The river we are traversing is littered with fungus, debris and devastations beyond our imaginations. The demon shark who governs these waters is ever prowling to devour us; yet God is ever watching and has cloaked us with such protection; even the shark cannot penetrate: Christ’s blood!
But, as blood is known to do, it attracts the menacing shark and angers him all the more. So he taunts and attempts to trip and divert anyway he possibly can.
Because of this ever present danger, we need the tread of prayer, fellowship and God’s Word all the more. This is our guideline—so as not to lose our bearings or become disorientated in the murky river of mortal life.
We do not know for how long this swim will be, but it will continue and we must persevere until
One day we find ourselves miraculously not having to work at swimming but find we are being gently carried over water that is no longer murky; water that sparkles and smells fresh.
We have reached His kingdom and are in pure waters. Bright as crystal, which are flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb Himself; grounded in the Tree of Life; circumcised by the Great City.
At last we know we are free from the shark; from all disease and infestation; from our own sinful bodies and chaos.
And we can truly relax and go with the flow, singing out praises and worship to our hearts content as love and joy overflow into eternity!
